ABOUT DWIGHT CANADA

Letter from the Headmaster

Welcome to Dwight International School Canada. Our aim has been to form young leaders with solid educational backgrounds that will be able to handle any intellectual challenge with success.

Our goal is to develop our youth with strong ethical and moral convictions, nature’s stewards and defenders of peace, young people that will serve their communities and, in particular, will serve their respective countries.  We are aware of the responsibility we have towards the community in which we live and, consequently, we are devoted to social service and the preservation of the environment.

This website will give you an overview of our school:  the academic programs and extracurricular activities, the professionals that educate and guide our students, and the key dates for next year’s academic program, and, finally, the process of admission for prospective students.  Nonetheless, we hope that if you really wish to know us and get a better understanding of the dynamic atmosphere of Dwight International School, you will come and spend a few days with us.

Jerry Salvador,
Head of School

Philosophy

Vision

To produce students who excel academically and are leaders in their communities. Our graduates will be sought after by the top universities and be known for the positive contributions they make in the community.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to educate future leaders who will make responsible changes to improve the human condition, will become stewards of the environment, will bridge differences between cultures and nations, and will cherish the pursuit of knowledge and the arts.

We believe that every student has a spark of genius, and our goal is to nurture that potential. We strive to develop inquisitive, informed, and ethical citizens who, with a sense of global kinship, will take action to build a better world.

VALUES

At the core of our philosophy are a set of values that infuse the way we teach and learn at Dwight International. They set the foundation for our curriculum, our activities, and community involvement.

Responsibility. We care about others. At the core of our curriculum is leadership. Students must lead and take responsibility, even in the face of uncertainty. Students are responsible to themselves, their classmates, and the community.

Integrity. Leaders must show integrity. We can be trusted to always act with the best interest of our students, our faculty, and our communities. In our daily actions we must show trust so that we can be trusted.

Leadership through understanding ourselves. We are defined by the roles we play, the culture we live in and the organizations to which we belong. Contributing to society requires that we find out who we are and want to be. We believe in inoculating leadership in all students at all ages.

Leadership through understanding others. We promote intercultural awareness and understanding through authentic experiences both within our school and the broader community. By building an international environment, promoting cultural exchanges, and integrating with the local and global communities with service projects we seek to broaden exposure to other cultures. As Lester B. Pearson, former Prime Minister of Canada, stated “How can there peace without understanding, and how can there be understanding without knowing each other”.

Leadership through action. We believe in leading by example. Our students will be equipped with skills to make a difference and to act on their goals and values.

Leadership through excellence. We believe that each person must strive for personal excellence. In all aspects of life we strive for excellence in the classroom, in extra curricular activities, and in our service to others.
